Today’s world is getting smaller every day. Through modern technology barriers have become easier to overcome for conducting business almost anywhere around the globe. This page would have amazed us at Larson Hereford Farms just a couple decades ago, but overseas sales have become a considerable portion of our enterprise. The people we have met and dealt with have been very interesting and we have made many lasting friendships that make our daily lives much more enjoyable.
Larson Hereford Farms exported a group of bred heifers to the country of Kazakhstan in central Asia over a three year span. In 2013 we sent the first of two shipments of bred heifers to Russia.
The Kazakhstan heifers were assembled at a feedlot near Mandan, ND, trucked to Fargo, ND and then flown to Astana, Kazakhstan, where they will spend their productive lives.
Kazakhstan is the 9th largest country in the world. It is bordered on the north by Russia and on the east by China. It has a climate similar to North Dakota and the upper midwest and is well-suited to beef production. It’s large cattle numbers were drawn down sharply after the fall of the Soviet Union in the early 1990’s. This program is an attempt by the government of Kazakhstan to rebuild the national cowherd for the people of that country.
Our latest export shipments were a group of 22 open heifers to Russia in 2019 and a group of bred heifers shipped to Uzbekistan in 2020.

Phil Barnett, Kaitoa Poll Herefords, Dannevirke, New Zealand, visiting us in July 2013.
Phil is pictured here scratching MAXX, one of several herdsires that Phil and his wife Lyn have partnered with us on.
In 2013, we were approached about sending semen on our herdsire GOLDEN-OAK FUSION 3S to Europe. Europe is a tough market to qualify for as an export destination from the U.S., but FUSION made it! We have exported semen on VOODOO, ROYAL, GLACIER, MAXX, FUSION and VENTURE to Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, New Zealand, Canada, Australia and now the European Union countries.
We were also pleased to have Boris Kasatkin visit us from France. Boris works for Genes Diffusion and was touring the midwest selecting beef and dairy cattle for export to Russia.
Thank you Boris for selecting LHF 20T MAXXMAKER 1114, a MAXX son out of a REMITALL HOLLYWOOD 4 yr. old.
